Casey Jones joins 'TMNT: Shredder's Revenge' roster
A seventh character is joining the action in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.
In a new trailer released during this year's Summer Game Fest, video game developer Dotemu revealed that Casey Jones, the beloved goalie-masked vigilante, will join Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, Master Splinter, and April O’Neil in the highly-awaited retro-style brawler.
Dotemu explained that Casey’s balance of range, speed, and power makes him a formidable all-around threat against the Foot Clan soldiers.
Mathieu Godet, animation supervisor for the masked vigilante, said that Casey’s almost 'magical' golf bag allows him to pull any type of sports equipment, granting him the ability to unleash a wide variety of offensive maneuvers against his adversaries.
“He might be slower than other fighters but his repertoire of sticks and clubs gives him not only a variety of attacks but also a whole lot of range and power,” Shredder’s Revenge game designer Fred Gemus said.
Meanwhile, the trailer also confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge will now feature a six-player multiplayer mode instead of the previously announced four co-op feature.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge’s enemy groups scale in size based on the number of players kicking shells, making multiplayer a totally intense showdown against Shredder’s minions,” it said.
Inspired by the iconic cartoon series, the side-scrolling brawler features classic full-color pixel art style design similar to arcade classics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Turtles in Time.
In the game, players will have to fight their way through “a breathless tour of iconic TMNT locations” like New York City and Dimension X and take on “tons of hellacious enemies” including classic foes like Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang and Shredder.
The co-op brawler is a joint project developed by Streets of Rage 4 publisher Dotemu and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game creator Tribute Games.
Here’s the official synopsis of the game:
With Bebop and Rocksteady assaulting Channel 6 and stealing super gnarly devices to support Krang and Shredder’s latest twisted plan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge sees the Turtles battling across a righteous range of timeless TMNT locations.
