More free content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is reportedly in development and slated for release later this year.

Nintendo announced to their fans via Twitter on Tuesday (July 27) that more details regarding updates will be shared in the future.

According to Nintendo, a free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be released on Thursday (July 29), including weekly fireworks shows and new seasonal items.

“Please ensure you have updated to the latest version to enjoy the upcoming weekly Fireworks shows and new seasonal items,” said Nintendo.

The game has proven to be a big hit during the pandemic, serving as a respite and virtual escape for many people stuck at home in isolation. With more than 32 million copies of Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold to date, fans have been expecting a lot more than the occasional seasonal item updates from Nintendo.

Nintendo’s Japanese website provides more clues of what to expect in the months ahead.

Several seasonal events are lined up including a Grape Harvest Festival, Mid-autmumn Festival, moon-viewing and more.

In August, players will be able to purchase limited items such as an “Eggplant Cow” and “Cucumber Horse.” Fans will also be able to enjoy mooncakes and design their own custom-made fireworks designs, among other activities.
