There's a new Inside Out character that might be too familiar for most millennials and Gen Zs: Anxiety.

In the new teaser trailer, Pixar's Inside Out 2 introduces Maya Hawk's character, Anxiety, who joins the rest of the gang: Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith), Fear (now voiced by Tony Hale), Disgust (now voiced by Liza Lapira), and Anger (voiced by Lewis Black).

“Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” Kelsey Mann, director of the film, said in a press release. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”

According to the synopsis, Inside Out 2 takes us back to the mind of now-teenage Riley, where headquarters is being demolished to make room for new emotions. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, who have always worked well together, are unsure of how to react when Anxiety—and a few others—arrive.

Inside Out 2 is the sequel to the 2015 Oscar-winning Pixar film. It won Best Animated Feature and was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

Inside Out 2 premieres in June 2024 in theaters. Check out the teaser below.
