Here's how much Alex Eala will earn from her stint at Miami Open 2025
Despite the end of her dream run at Miami Open 2025, Alex Eala is poised to bring home a whopping prize money from the games.
The 19-year-old tennis phenom managed to reach the semifinals of the tournament following her wins against World No. 25 Jelena Ostapenko on March 22, World No. 5 Madison Keys on March 24, and World No. 2 Iga Swiatek on March 27. She, however, bowed out to World No. 4 Jessica Pegula on March 28.
Despite her loss, Eala is assured of a prize money of $332,160 (over PhP19 million), according to the Women's Tennis Association website.
Had she made it to the finals, she would have earned total winnings of $597,890 (over PhP34 million) and 650 points. If she emerged as the champion, she would have earned 1,000 points and a $1,124,380 (PhP63 million) cash prize.
Currently, Eala’s total prize money throughout her career is $498,901 or more than P28 million, per the WTA.
Now World No. 75 from World No. 140, she made history at the games this year by becoming the first Filipino to reach the final four of a Women's Tennis Association 1000 event and making it to the top 100 of WTA rankings. As one of the highest-ranked players in professional tennis, this means that she will be allowed to be part of the main draws of all major tournaments without having to compete in qualifying rounds.
"Kapag nasa top 100 ka, straight to main draw sa mga grand slam tournaments—French Open, Wimbledon, US Open, and Australian Open,” sports journalist Dyan Castillejo said, adding that Eala now has a sure slot for the French Open set for late May.
