'Bridgerton' season 4: What you need to know about Benedict's new love interest Sophie Beckett
Prepare to meet Sophie Beckett!
Yerin Ha has been cast to play Benedict Bridgerton's (Luke Thompson) love interest Sophie in Bridgerton season 4, Variety reported.
The official logline of the season states that the fourth installment will focus on bohemian second son Benedict and his story from An Offer From a Gentleman.
"Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball," it read.
Who exactly is this Lady in Silver?
In the novel, Sophie is the daughter of the Earl of Penwood and his maid, who died from childbirth. She was taken in by her father when she was left at his doorstep but he didn't acknowledge her as his child and was instead raised by other servants. When Sophie turned 10, her father married a woman with two daughters who despised her.
In a Cinderella-esque story, Sophie decides to attend the Bridgerton Masquerade ball despite not being allowed. At the event of the season, she meets Benedict Bridgerton.
The Lady in Silver will be played by Yerin Ha, an Australian actress with Korean parents. She made her TV debut in Reef Break, later joined Steven Spielberg's Halo, and starred in the 2022 feature film Sissy.
What we know about Bridgerton season 4
In addition to Yerin Ha, the upcoming season will star Luke Thompson as Benedict, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope, and Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton.
Jonathan Bailey, who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, confirmed in an interview with Good Morning America that he will be back in the upcoming season.
"We're going to follow the stories. The thing about Bridgerton, which is so brilliant, is that there's so many different ways you can fall in love as humans and that's what this show will explore. Obviously being the older brother, I'm going to be there to support the youngsters as we go," Jonathan said.
Entertainment news site What's On Netflix says season 4 will begin filming in September. A release date has yet to be revealed.
Bridgerton is based on the book series by Julia Quinn and was created for television by Chris Van Dusen. Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Tom Verica serve as executive producers.
