DICT launches new AI assistant on the eGovPH app—here's what it can do
The Department of Information and Communications Technology launched an AI-powered assistant on the eGovPH Superapp on Monday, Sept. 21.
At the launch of the eGovAI, led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the Manila Hotel, DICT introduced "Kuya A," who is programmed to give "real-time support to citizens and government agencies."
A press release issued by DICT on the same day said the new feature has "AI-powered capabilities, such as secure identity verification, automated document processing, translation services, and intelligent assistance."
"We are bringing AI into the eGovernment ecosystem not simply as a technological innovation, but as a tool to make public services more responsive, accessible, and efficient," said DICT Secretary Henry R. Aguda.
During the launch, Marcos emphasized the need to keep up with emerging technology.
“We live in a time when technology is transforming how we learn, work, and do business. Artificial intelligence, or AI in particular, offers new ways of solving problems and making everyday tasks more efficient,” he said. “Hence, the government must be ready to make these technologies work for the Filipino people.”
What 'Kuya A' can do
Per DICT, Kuya A makes it convenient for Filipinos to find information, navigate government services, and perform digital transactions through the eGovPH app.
Here are some of its features:
- AI assistant: A virtual assistant that helps you in real time to navigate government services
- Document extractor: It lifts text from images or scanned documents
- Image identifier: It identifies photos and classifies objects
- Translator: It detects foreign languages and automatically translates to any of the 105 languages in its program. The feature includes Filipino, Cebuano, and Tagalog.
- eTourism: Provides a guide to Philippine destinations, including local travel tips
- Speech maker: It can write speeches for you
- eAgri: Provides digital services farmers and fisherfolk can use to register for government programs and seek support
- Coder/Programmer: Provides programming concepts to help shape learning paths and technology choices
- Laws and regulations: Gives access to laws, policies, and government guidelines
- Health AI: Determines personalized health and fitness plans based on data you share
- Identity AI: Securely verifies user presence
Kuya A has audio capabilities, so you may also read or dictate what you need.
The eGov AI icon can be found right on the eGovPH interface. Tap on "Kuya A," who is "your all-in-one government AI assistant," to find the task you need help with.
