John Arcilla took home a prestigious Coppi Volpi (Volpi Cup) for Best Actor at the 78th Venice Film Festival for his performance in the movie On the Job: The Missing 8.

Although he couldn't attend the recent awards show in person in Italy, Arcilla shared a pre-recorded video of his speech on Instagram.

“If there’s one thing I regret tonight is, I will not be able to see my picture there, kissing my own Volpi Cup," he said.

“I know for a fact that we came from different countries, different continents with different cultures, colors, creeds, or languages. But yet I can feel the oneness, this tremendous oneness and understanding. I know that we can understand each other despite our differences and it’s because of the art of cinema," the actor continued.

In his caption, Arcilla wrote about how the Volpi Cup is a symbolic milestone in his work as an actor.

"My heart is outpouring with gratitude to all who loved me and inspire me to where I am today and thanking God for putting them in my life," he wrote.

Director Erik Matti, who accepted the award on Arcilla's behalf, posted a photo of the trophy and joked about how he was going to bring it home to the actor.
