WATCH: 'Sparks Camp' teases first 'BL dating' reality show in Philippines
ABS-CBN Films subsidiary Black Sheep Productions has released the official trailer of Sparks Camp.
Promoted as the "Philippines' first-ever BL (boys' love) dating reality show," Sparks Camp features a cast of 10 single guys going out to look for their so-called spark.
The show will stream on Black Sheep's YouTube channel at 8 p.m. every Wednesday. Its first episode will premiere on May 24.
Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan hosts Sparks Camp, where she served as "a facilitator, a listener, a processor, a mother."
"Marami tayong kuwento at realidad na dapat makita at mapakinggan. And my hope: may the potential of this show lead to proud storytelling of all types of love—boys love, girls love, trans love, bi love, pan love, love/romance/kilig in all aspects," Mela posted.
According to Mela, the 10 boys identify either as gay, bisexual, or pansexual. They will reveal their dating histories, insecurities, and struggles, as well as their hopes and desires.
The cast members include Dan Galman, Nick Deocampo, Gabe Balita, Justin Macapallag, Stanley Bawalan, Karl Bau, Aaron Maniego, Alex De Ungria, Bong Gonzales, and Nat Magbitang.
Theodore Boborol (Iska, Vince & Kath & James, Forevermore) directed Sparks Camp.
"Please be kind to our campers. Di n’yo alam pinagdadaanan nila. You’ll see when you watch the show. Mahirap na itself to appear as gay/bi/pan sa isang show na di familiar sa lahat so just please be kind," the director posted after the official trailer reveal.
