Archewell Productions, the studio of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, has announced a new project with Netflix following the adventures of a young woman inspired by “influential women from history.”

Pearl, the working title of the animated series, will follow a 12-year-old girl on her “heroic adventures” toward self-discovery and learning to own her power.

“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history,” Markle said.

“David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today,” she added.

Joining Markle and Furnish as executive producers are Carolyn Soper (Sherlock Gnomes), Liz Garbus (I’ll Be Gone in the Dark), and Dan Cogan (The Apollo), while Amanda Rynda (DC Super Hero Girls) is on board as showrunner and executive producer.

Pearl is the second announced project of the production arm. In 2020, Markle and Harry signed a multi-year deal with Netflix and their Archewell Productions, a subsidiary of their organization, Archwell Inc.

Its debut project Heart of Invictus is a documentary series on the journey of competitors of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 which is now set in 2022, a sporting event for wounded service officers.
