Award-winning actresses Dolly de Leon and Lea Salonga will be starring in a new play which will have a limited run beginning Oct. 10.

Samsung Performing Arts Theater announced on Monday, June 24 that the two Filipina actresses will have their comeback on stage for a play, Request sa Radyo, running from Oct. 10 to Oct. 20 in Makati City.

Described as the “landmark theatrical piece” of German author and playwright Franz Xaver Kroetz, the play will follow the story of a woman who navigates her life in the poignant solitude of a woman through her meticulous evening routine.

“As she navigates her quiet, solitary life, her actions and her favorite radio program reveal the profound loneliness and yearning for connection that lie beneath. This masterpiece of modern theatre transforms the mundane into the extraordinary through silence and leaves you contemplating the depths of solitude long after the curtain falls,” the play’s description read.

“[It] transforms the mundane into a powerful exploration of isolation and the human condition,” it added. De Leon and Salonga will alternate in the lead role.

De Leon, who will be returning to the theater stage after five years, expressed her delight to star in the upcoming play.

“With loneliness being one of the most immediate problems society faces today, my hope is that people will understand mental health more and find compassion for those who suffer,” De Leon said in an exclusive feature by Vogue Philippines

The staging will be produced by Clint Ramos, Bobby Garcia, and Christopher Mohnani for Ayala Land, and GMG Productions.

More details including the ticket prices and additional guidelines have yet to be unveiled.
