If you loved the Red Rising book series, here's some news: it is getting a movie adaptation!

According to reports by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the film version of the sci-fi dystopian novel by Pierce Brown is currently underway at Paramount, with France Lawrence, who also helmed the hit franchise Hunger Games and Red Sparrow, directing the project.

Justin Rhodes will write the script, based on the original 2014 novel. It will be produced by Lawrence and Cameron MacConomy alongside Francesco Goedhuis. Brown will executive produce.

More details about the cast, plot, and target release date have yet to be announced.

Red Rising tells the story of a miner named Darrow of Lykos who lives in a futuristic society where humanity has colonized other planets and is divided into a color-coded hierarchy. The Reds, who belong to the lowest class, are forced to work in the mines of Mars, while the powerful Golds dominate the solar system and compete for supremacy.

After experiencing a devastating personal loss, Darrow becomes involved in a rebellion seeking revenge against the Golds.
