‘Paranormal Activity’ stage play adaptation is currently in the works
Attention, horror and theater fans! The hit film series Paranormal Activity will “haunt” London's West End soon.
According to a report from entertainment outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming horror stage play is currently in its early-stage development and will be helmed by veteran producer Simon Friend.
He recently acquired the horror film series’ license to adapt it into a stage play under his production company, Simon Friend Entertainment—the same team behind popular stage plays The Father, The Da Vinci Code, Titanic, Dr Seuss’ The Grinch musical, Life of Pi, which won five Olivier Awards, including Best New Play and three Tonys.
The horror musical will be written by Levi Holloway, who also wrote Broadway’s thriller play Grey House.
Created by Oren Peli, Paranormal Activity is a supernatural film that follows the story of a family haunted by a demon. They decided to document each chilling encounter by setting up video and cellphone cameras around the house. Its found-footage approach in filming became a box office hit that it had seven movie installments between 2007 and 2021.
