WATCH: Netflix drops trailer for Pornhub documentary 'Money Shot'
As much as billions of people consider Pornhub exciting and addictive, this NSFW streaming platform is also drawing ire from both adult industry insiders and outsiders. This year, Netflix is laying bare the website's successes and scandals in a documentary titled Money Shot.
The 90-minute feature, according to Netflix, chronicles the lucrative website's attempt to quash backlash in the aftermath of a 2020 The New York Times opinion piece which includes "stories of multiple women who, as minors, were exploited by having their sexual assaults posted to Pornhub."
Pornhub owner MindGeek was sued by assault victims and activists for child sex trafficking since then, leading to the removal of all uploads from unverified users on the site.
However, the allegations caused trouble for the company's porn performers and sex workers who are making a living from an industry "threatened by what they contend is blanket censorship."
Apart from taking a deep dive into these controversies, Money Shot documents Pornhub's 16-year history of turning pornography into a multi-billion dollar industry through the eyes of journalists, its employees, as well as performers like Wolf Hudson, Siri Dahl, Natassia Dreams, Cherie DeVille, and Asa Akira.
In the trailer released on March 1, one interview subject is seen saying, "It's not just an attack on porn. It's an attacj on people being able to express themselves."
Another performer says, “If it wasn’t for porn, I probably wouldn’t be alive.”
Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is set to premiere on March 15 on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
