Are you among those who were captivated by Kim Seon Ho’s charming smile in When Life Gives You Tangerines

The popular slice-of-life K-drama starring IU and Park Bo Gum has brought all the feels from its premiere on March 7 until the final volume release on March 28.

Not only did it leave lessons on life, family, and love—it also birthed the now-viral smile trend on social media.

How it started

The Kim Seon Ho smile trend came from the wedding scene of Geum-myeong (played by IU) and Chung-seob (played by Seon Ho) in the series' fourth volume.

In the scene, the soon-to-wed couple had a small interaction a few moments before the ceremony, where Chung-seob expressed his admiration upon seeing his bride for the first time in her wedding dress.

Chung-seob acted like he was struck by Cupid's arrow before he lost consciousness as a joke. He then gave Geum-myeong a wink and a smile, to which she responded with a light chuckle.

The viral scene was reposted by Netflix on its social media pages, garnering 3.8 million views and over 200,000 likes on TikTok as of writing.

“[N]ew aegyo move unlocked,” the streaming service captioned their post. "Aegyo" is a South Korean term that refers to behaving in a cute or charming manner.

Celebrities join in the fun

Local and international celebrities hopped on the trend using the pre-chorus of Ariana Grande's song supernatural. TV host-actor Dingdong Dantes, for one, looked dapper in his suit while doing the famous move.

“Wala na, tinapos niya na!" his wife, actress Marian Rivera wrote in the caption of her post.

Sunoo of K-pop boy group Enhypen also uploaded his own entry that has garnered four million likes so far.

Actor Dennis Trillo, meanwhile, gave a comedic touch to his video by clutching his chest and pretending to have a heart attack before smiling with his tongue out. "Ibang atake naman ang gagawin natin dito," he captioned his post.

8-member group BINI also gave their own take on the trend and absolutely nailed it.
