Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms just got a Season 2 ahead of its premiere!

As reported by Variety, the announcement came during an HBO and HBO Max press presentation in New York by CEO Casey Bloys on Thursday, Nov.20.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set a century before Game of Thrones and is based on George RR Martin’s novel, Tales of Dunk and Egg.

It follows the tales of Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall (Peter Claffey), a Westerosi knight, and Egg (Sol Ansell), his diminutive squire.

The cast also includes Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Danny Webb, Sam Spruell, Shaun Thomas, Finn Bennett, Edward Ashley, Tanzyn Crawford, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Daniel Monks.

Martin and Ira Parker co-created the series along with executive producers Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis.

Francesca Orsi, who heads HBO‘s Drama Series and Films, told Deadline in February that the series will run for three seasons.

“You’re going be so impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two leads,” she said. “So much so that we’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total.”

The show was in development in 2021 before being officially announced as a series in 2023.

The series is set to premiere on Jan. 18, 2026.

Meanwhile, Season 4 of the prequel House of the Dragon was also announced for release in 2028.
