Daniel Radcliffe unlikely to appear in new ‘Harry Potter’ TV series—here's why

Hogwarts will have a new wizard when the TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling's hit Harry Potter comes to life.

In a recent interview on Access Hollywood, Daniel Radcliffe revealed he is not seeking out an involvement—not even the possibility of reprising his iconic role in the reboot—as he believes it aims to create a fresh experience for the fans.

“I think it’s very much like, they’re going for a new series and there will be someone else playing Harry so I think it will be very weird for me to show up. I’m very excited to see what other people do with it," he said.

The 33-year-old actor also expressed his pleasure at passing the torch to others as he mentioned Harry Potter's potential to have numerous cinematic interpretations.

“I think the Potter series of books was always going to be bigger than one interpretation or one franchise so, it’ll be cool to see the torch get passed on,” he explained.

“I’m very excited to see what other people do with it,” he continued.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced the Harry Potter television series in April this year, with author JK Rowling as its executive producer. It said the new show will be a "faithful adaption" of the much-loved books.

The reboot is set to premiere between 2025 and 2026. Further details, including the cast, are yet to be revealed.
