IU, Byeon Woo-seok to star in new romance drama 'Wife of a 21st Century Prince'
Attention K-drama fans! Well-loved Korean actors IU and Byeon Woo-seok will be starring in a new drama together!
Kakao Entertainment announced on Dec. 2 that the two will be the lead cast members in MBC’s upcoming drama Wife of a 21st Century Prince.
The romance drama is set in an "alternate version" of Korea, a constitutional monarchy.
As per Soompi, the drama follows the love story of Sung Hee Joo (IU), a chaebol heiress who has everything but is only a commoner in status, and Lee Ahn (Woo-seok), a prince who has nothing despite being the son of the king.
IU's character is known to be born with beauty and brains. However, her social status as a commoner unexpectedly becomes an obstacle in her perfect life, especially when she gets entangled with Prince Lee Ahn.
Meanwhile, Wo-seok character is a prince who has nothing due to being born as the king’s second son. He undergoes a major change in his life after meeting Sung Hee Joo.
Wife of a 21st Century Prince is currently scheduled to air in the second half of 2025. Further details, such as the other cast, the exact premiere date, and how to watch it, have yet to be announced.
Woo-seok debuted as a model in 2010. He gained prominence in portraying roles in various K-drama and films such as Lovely Runner (2024), 20th Century Girl (2022), Strong Girl Nam-soon (2023), Soulmate (2023), and Record of Youth (2020), among others.
IU, or Lee Ji-eun in real life, is a well-beloved South Korean singer-songwriter and actress. She is known for her K-drama and films such as Dream High (2011), Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), My Mister (2018), and Hotel del Luna (2019), among others.
