Emma Stone will be back for 'Cruella 2'

Emma Stone is confirmed to reprise her role as Cruella De Vil in Cruella 2.

After a satisfying performance at the box office and Disney+ Premier Access, Cruella is moving forward with a sequel to continue the story of the classic villainess.

This news comes after the recent controversy between Scarlett Johansson and Disney over the theatrical-streaming release of Black Widow, wherein the actress has alleged the company has breached her contract by airing the film on the streaming app.

“While the media landscape has been disrupted in a meaningful way for all distributors, their creative partners cannot be left on the sidelines to carry a disproportionate amount of the downside without the potential for upside,” Patrick Whitesell, Executive Chairman of Endeavor said of the news.

He continued: “This agreement demonstrates that there can be an equitable path forward that protects artists and aligns studios’ interests with talent."

"We are proud to work alongside Emma and Disney, and appreciate the studio’s willingness to recognize her contributions as a creative partner. We are hopeful that this will open the door for more members of the creative community to participate in the success of new platforms,” Whitesell said.

Also returning to the film are director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara.

No details on the sequel have been provided yet, as the project is still in its early stages.

Cruella was premiered last May 18, 2021 via the streaming app Disney+.
