We’re waving through a window.

The film adaptation for the 2015 Tony and Grammy-award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen has released its first theatrical trailer.

The film sees Broadway star Ben Platt return as Evan Hansen, the titular character who suffers from social anxiety. Evan regularly writes letters to himself as a coping mechanism, until one of his classmates commits suicide and a wild series of events leads everyone to believe that Evan was his only friend.

The musical has spawned numerous fan-favorite songs, such as You Will Be Found, Waving Through a Window, For Forever, and more.

It also skyrocketed Platt’s career, as the 27-year-old has since landed roles in Netflix's The Politician and Pitch Perfect.

Platt is set to star alongside Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Amandla Stenberg, and Kaitlyn Dever. Perks of Being a Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky is also directing the film set for a September 2021 release.
