Did you know the Duchess of Cambridge can play the keys?

Kate Middleton hit all the right notes with her first public piano performance during the Royal Carols: Together at Christmas broadcast, which was recorded in the Chapter House at Westminster Abbey.

The 39-year-old royal showed off her musical talents playing piano alongside Scottish singer Tom Walker who gave a moving rendition of For Those Who Can't Be Here.

While Middleton has remained humble about her piano-playing skills, Walker praised her performance.

"Without doubt, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," he told ITV. "I thought she absolutely smashed the performance. It's not easy to just jump behind a piano with a bunch of musicians you've never played with before and record live takes to camera, but she completely nailed it."

The Scottish singer also talked about how the Duchess is a "lovely, kind, and warmhearted person" and how the performance is one to remember.

"It was a crazy pinch-yourself kind of day for me, to be in such a beautiful venue playing alongside the Duchess with my band and a string quartet. I certainly won't forget that in a hurry!" he added.

A royal source said that Middleton learned to play the instrument as a child and that she played a lot during lockdowns. She approached Walker for the performance after they met at a charity event in October.

Even fans were surprised with her skills.

"Wow! Duchess Kate playing the piano?" commented one user on Instagram.

"Honestly what can't she do? Love her," wrote another.
