'Mga Kwentong Epik: Alamat ni Maria Makiling' is now streaming on Netflix

Another Filipino animated series about local folklore and mythology is ready to awaken your magical soul. 

The six-episode series animated show Mga Kwentong Epik: Alamat ni Maria Makiling, based on the comic book series by Epik Studios, is now available to stream on Netflix.

The show follows a young woman named Ria, who discovers that she is the goddess Maria Makiling which is voiced by actress Ryza Cenon. 

This combination of animation and beautifully drawn comic panels is narrated by Bodjie “Kuya Bodjie” Pascua of Batibot fame with each episode running from 20 to 25 minutes. 

This binge-worthy animated series also features other folkloric characters such as Pedro Penduko, the Nuno, Babaylan, Aswang and more. 

On their Facebook page, Epik Studios penned their gratitude towards their viewers who showed support to the series that makes it part of the “Trending Now” category in Netflix. 

The studio also shared that in 2018, actress Nadine Lustre was supposed to play the role of Maria Makiling. 

Mga Kwentong Epik: Ang Alamat ni Maria Makiling and ther local folktales such as Mga Kwentong Epik Ni Bernardo Carpio and Mga Kwentong Epik Ni Osyana first aired on TV5.
