Award-winning Filipino film John Denver Trending is set to premiere in theaters in South Korea, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced.
The flick is set to premiere on Nov. 23 at CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox theaters in major Korean cities, making it the first Filipino film to get wide screenings in the country.
Directed by Arden Rod Condez, John Denver Trending tells the true tale of a 14-year-old boy who gets canceled after a video of him brutally attacking a classmate goes viral online.
"FINALLY! This is happening. Thanks to our very passionate South Korean distributor," Condez wrote on Facebook.
It stars Jensen Magpusao and Meryll Soriano and has won 15 awards at film festivals such as the 15th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, bagging the Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Music Score prizes.
John Denver Trending was also screened at the 24th Busan International Film Festival under the New Currents competition section.
