Warner Bros. releases ‘The Suicide Squad’ official ‘Rain’ trailer

Warner Bros. released earlier today a new trailer for James Gunn’s titular supervillain-slash-superhero movie that featured new footage from the film.

The Suicide Squad's newest trailer starts with a reference to one of Bloodsport or Robert DuBois (played by Idris Elba) biggest milestone in the comics where he seemingly kills Superman with a Kryptonite bullet made personally by him.

The trailer proceeds to show DuBois’ daughter stating that he might help with a court appearance, which gives off David Ayer’s 2016 iteration vibes in the context of Floyd Lawton or Deadshot and his daughter in the previous movie.

The new footage showed Amanda Waller’s (role reprised by Viola Davis) new task force of convicts wrecking havoc in the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy Jotunheim, a Nazi-era prison and laboratory which held political prisoners and conducted experiments.

During the mission however they encounter the telepathic alien starfish Starro, who is slated as the main antagonist of the movie.

After being booted (temporarily) by Marvel in 2018, DC took the opportunity to hire Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn for the reboot.

Suicide Squad premieres in theaters and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
