Turn your artistic vision into reality: Benilde is accepting applications for a P300,000 production grant
Got an artistic project that you want to bring to life? You're in luck—the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde is offering a production grant to help make your potential masterpiece a reality.
The university is once again launching its "Benilde Open Design and Art" initiative this year, aiming to empower artists across the Philippines. Through this program, creative practitioners can receive production grants of up to P300,000 to transform their artistic visions into fully realized works.
The theme for the new edition is "Extension of Nature," which challenges creatives to "imagine a world where art and technology work in harmony with the environment—not against it."
Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from the "evolving world of kinetic art—works that not only move, but also respond, interact, and adapt."
"For the Benilde Open: Extension of Nature, we ask for proponents to bridge technology and nature and propose solutions—whether mechanical, organic, or inevitably, the digital—to the reimagination of a future while cognizant of the destruction wrought by the past," the university stated.
"The growing concerns about climate change and ecological instability, artists and designers have increasingly turned to technology to address environmental issues. Creative individuals previously turned to fashioning materials into things such as machines or objets d’art as a means towards experimentation, testing and discovery," they added.
To apply for the grant, you must fill out their submission form with your personal details and provide a description of your project, some concept pictures, a budget breakdown of the cost to make it, and a project timeline.
Up to 10 creatives will have the chance to be awarded, with final proposals reviewed by a jury of creatives from both local and international communities.
Additionally, there is also a separate competition called the "Best of Benilde" that exclusively invites Benilde students to submit proposals of school projects "resonating with the idea of curiosities, spanning sustainability and movement, the intersection of craft and technology, and the exploration of digital or virtual domains."
Five standout proposals will each receive a P50,000 grant.
Submissions are open until July 30.
