Imagine Dragons announces new album, release date
After dropping several teasers, Imagine Dragons has announced their fifth album Mercury - Act 1, to be released on Sept. 3.
The album cover art features a man falling, opposite from that of their 2017 Evolve album art with a man going up, illuminated by rainbow light.
“I've been working on this album with the guys for the last three years and feel both excited and anxious for their release,” frontman Dan Reynolds earlier said.
A day before the announcement, the band had their fans guess the album title with a photo that read, "If anyone guesses the album title tonight, we will announce it tomorrow."
They followed that the answer was “directly in the text” and replied to a fan after the announcement that “every clue is about the photo from last night. you'll know when you get it."
While waiting for the upcoming album, fans will get to listen to a new track, Wrecked, tomorrow, July 2.
Imagine Dragons also dropped their songs Follow You and Cutthroat in March, their first release since 2019.
Reynolds announced last December 2019 that he would be taking some time off to focus on his family.
Mercury - Act 1 will follow their Origins album after it was released nearly three years ago in November 2019.
The upcoming album is now available for pre-order in several formats including digital, CD, cassette, and vinyl. The band has also released a range of exclusive pre-order merchandise available on their website.
