Congrats, David! Karen Davila shares her son's inspiring first exhibit as an artist
Karen Davila's firstborn son, David, just achieved his first milestone as a budding artist.
The veteran journalist took to social media to share that her son's painting has been featured in an art exhibit alongside his classmates at The Vanguard Academy.
"PROUD OF YOU DAVID. David and his classmates are closing the year with their first art exhibit - and for a good cause!" Karen wrote alongside photos of David's many art pieces and figurines.
The 18-year-old special Visual Arts student just finished his first year in the Academy.
"For all of you who know David’s journey - you know how powerful a testimony this is of God’s grace & goodness!" Karen continued. In another video, David can be seen explaining his still life paintings such as a plant they saw in Batangas, a koi pond in Cala Laiya resort, and more.
"It makes me so proud to share David’s journey & his accomplishments because I know it will inspire other mothers with gifted & special kids to believe, commit & invest in developing their child!"
David first picked up the brush in January of 2021. Since then, his mother has been instrumental in harnessing their "very own Van Gogh."
As someone on the autism spectrum, David's works have been a way for him to share his feelings through the arts.
"Studies have shown a strong connection between children in the autism spectrum and creative thinking. It is the way they express themselves and that is why it is important to encourage it," Karen wrote back in 2021.
"It makes me so proud to see David working. He is so devoted and disciplined in all he does, whether in art or in his studies, it inspires all of us at home."
Congratulations, David!
