Philippines' Ashley Subijano Montenegro concludes Miss Eco International 2023 journey in the Top 21
Miss Philippines Ashley Subijano Montenegro concluded her run at Miss Eco International 2023 in the Top 21.
This means that since the Philippines started joining Miss Eco International in 2018, Subijano is the country's only Miss Eco International bet not to have won the pageant or at least placed as runner-up so far.
"All love! No tears. A lot of shock… but even more hugs," she posted on Instagram on Saturday, March 4.
The beauty queen hoped to secure a back-to-back win for the Philippines after Kathleen Paton won last year.
Paton then reassured her successor that she performed well.
"I’m so proud of you, bb girl! You were and are amazing and I’m so glad I got to know you better during the competition. No one will ever know how hard competing in a pageant is until they experienced it. For that, I hope you will always remember how truly incredible you were as a Miss Philippines. I hope time will allow for people to know that you are a beautiful person in and out. You made our country proud, Queen," the Miss Eco International 2022 commented on Montenegro's post.
Aces & Queens general manager Mikee Andrei also comforted the pageant contestant, saying, "Love you! Always proud of you."
Montenegro's predecessors include Cynthia Thomalla (2018 Miss Eco International winner), Maureen Montagne (2019 1st runner-up), and Kelley Day (2020/2021 1st runner-up).
Miss Vietnam Nguyen Thanh Ha was crowned Miss Eco International 2023 and also won Best in Eco Dress. She was followed by Ifunanya Basilia Ikochukwu of Nigeria (1st runner-up), Yashna Beeharry of Mauritius (2nd runner-up), Ratana Sokhavatey of Cambodia (3rd runner-up), and Genesis Guerrero of Ecuador (4th runner-up).
