Hyein to partially resume group activities with NewJeans after recovering from foot injury

NewJeans' Hyein will partially take part in the K-pop group's promotional activities following her recovery from foot injury.

According to a report by Korean entertainment outlet Soompi, ADOR, the girl group's agency, said Hyein is scheduled to participate in their upcoming fanmeet dubbed "Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome" on June 26 and 27.

But since she "needs a sufficient rehabilitation period," ADOR is currently adjusting the idol's level of participation to avoid straining her injury.

"A recent examination confirmed that the fracture is healing well, and it has been recommended that she gradually increase her foot movement over the next month," the agency said.

"She will be taking part in the performances to a limited extent. We appreciate your understanding on this matter," they added.

ADOR also clarified that Hyein "will not be active or be participating in the official Supernatural promotions in Japan, including music shows and other performances, for the same reason."

According to the management, Hyein plans to engage as much as possible in activities other than music shows and performances, depending on her condition and advice from her medical team.

"We are committed to ensuring that NewJeans can perform as a full group in upcoming music shows in South Korea," ADOR continued.

"She will return to official activities once she receives medical clearance that she has fully recovered. We ask for your continued support," they concluded.

In May, Soompi reported that Hyein had a microfracture during practice, prompting her to take a temporary break from activities such as official promotional events and live performances to focus on the K-pop idol's recovery.

NewJeans, consisting of Hanni, Haerin, Hyein, Minji, and Danielle, returned to the K-pop scene in the same month with a double single consisting of four tracks such as How Sweet and Bubble Gum, as well as instrumental versions of both songs.

Soompi also reported that the band is preparing a new album slated for release in the latter part of 2024. They're also looking to have their first global tour in 2025.

NewJeans is known for hit songs ETA, OMG, and Cool With You, among others.

They visited the country in December for the 2023 Asia Artists Awards (AAA), which took place at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
