Heads up, K-drama fans! Looks like a new zombie K-drama is about to give you thrills, and it's starring well-loved Korean superstars Jisoo of BLACKPINK alongside Park Jung Min.
According to a report by Korean entertainment outlet Soompi, YouTube channel YTN announced on Aug. 31 that Jisoo and Park Jung Min will be starring in the new Coupang Play series Influenza.
Both artist's agency said that they received the offer and is currently reviewing it.
“It is one of the projects that he is reviewing to star in,” a source from Park Jung Min’s agency, SEM Company, shared
“She has received an offer for ‘Influenza’ and is reviewing the offer,” Jisoo’s agency, YG Entertainment, meanwhile responded.
According to reports, Park Jung Min will portray Jae Yoon, who joins the military at the late age of 26 after failing to find alternative service in the defense sector. He decides to split up with his girlfriend to relieve his anxieties since he is a worrier who is concerned about his future and his relationship.
Little did he know that the outside world was overtaken by a zombie apocalypse. While fighting the zombies, he becomes the leader of a team despite originally being timid and helpless.
Jisoo, on the other hand, will reportedly play Young Joo, the ex-girlfriend of Park Jung Min's character. She struggles as a result of Jae Yoon's inability to understand her emotions and their eventual breakup. As she heads off to see her ex-boyfriend, she discovers that zombies have taken control of the city. As she battles for her life, she progressively becomes a stronger figure in the film.
Influenza is written by Ji Ho Jin alongside Han Ji Won, who wrote the hit 2019 Korean thriller-drama film Parasite. The drama's story is based on a novel by Han Sang Woon. The series is directed by Yoon Sung Hyun of Bleak Night where Park Jung Min is best known for.
Influenza marks Jisoo's second time playing the lead role in a drama following her 2022 historical drama Snowdrop with Jung Hae-In.
