Bridgit Mendler clarifies she has yet to earn PhD title: 'I'll still fight for it'
Former Disney star Bridgit Mendler took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that she has not yet attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as reflected on her LinkedIn profile.
Bridgit stated that while she started to work for her PhD in 2020 along with her law degree, it had to “go on a pause” when she moved to California and decided to stay on the west coast for family reasons.
The singer-songwriter apologized for not updating her profile and expressed her will to “fight" for the degree.
“I enjoy pushing the boundary of the possible and saying yes to more things but also it is important to flex the muscle of prioritization and discernment. For myself, I’ve found that learning when to say no or not right now can be more of a skill than saying yes,” the 31-year-old wrote in her X post.
As of writing, her PhD status on LinkedIn is now updated to be “on leave,” with 2028 as an expected year to graduate.
Bridgit is currently the CEO and co-founder of Northwood, a space startup, while having two months left to attain her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.
She also recently revealed that she is a mother to a “sweet [four-year-old) boy” whom she adopted with husband Griffin Cleverly.
The other news I wanted to share is I’m a mama to a sweet 4yo boy. Started fostering in 2021 adopted near Christmas of 2022. I’m so lucky — being a parent is the biggest gift and most defining experience there is
