LIST: Filipino celebrity dads and their fit and healthy bodies
As men settle down with the love of their lives and start a family, their responsibilities as the head of the household frequently makes them too busy to take care of themselves and keep a healthy physique.
But these Filipino celebrity dads are making it a point to keep their calories in check and maintain their muscles and abs in their full glory. This is in spite of them having to balance the stress of the showbiz life and their duties as both a husband to their spouse and a father to their children.
Here are some well-built celebrity dads who can inspire you to get off the couch and grab some weights:
Kim Atienza
At his ripe age of 56 years old, Kim Atienza is truly a fitspiration for all dads out there. On his Instagram account, the television host and weather anchor is an open book when it comes to his exercise routines and his frequent visits to the gym.
Just recently, Kim, who shares three children with his wife Felicia, posted a video of himself lifting weights with his 62-year-old friend Edgardo Kalaw, which just goes to show that you shouldn't let age stop you from attaining your dream body.
He shared that some of the activities he does to stay fit are swimming and running at least twice a week, doing some strength-training exercise, and taking in supplements such as vitamin B complex.
Derek Ramsay
Derek Ramsay is another celebrity dad who has long established himself as an image of fitness and wellness, fueled by his passion for all kinds of sports such as soccer, golf, basketball, and water polo.
Derek, who has a son named Austin from his previous marriage and is the stepfather to Ellen Adarna and John Lloyd Cruz's son Elias, shared in a previous interview that playing sports plays a big role in helping him develop his perfectly defined abs, strong shoulders, toned arms and legs.
As for his exercise routines, he shared in a quick chat with PhilSTAR L!fe that he only works out for 10 minutes a day, "It's really important that you keep yourself active. Use it or lose it! I do dead hangs everyday, and I cycle 10 push-ups, 10 squats, and 10 burgers for 10 minutes straight with minimal rest."
Vin Abrenica
Vin Abrenica is also not one to slack off on keeping his toned physique in check despite his daddy duties to his beautiful daughter Avianna who he shares with Sophie Albert.
One click to his Instagram account and you'll be met with various posts showcasing his well-built muscles and strapping figure, brought about by his determination to regularly do some exercise routines such as boxing, biking, cardio workouts, among others. But perhaps what sets him apart from the others is his love for martial arts, having been training in arnis and is adept at using nunchucks.
For those who want to follow in the footsteps of Vin in staying fit, he has one important advice: "Consistency is key, but it's more important to find fun in the process."
Rodjun Cruz
If there's any celebrity dad that's more passionate about being fit and healthy, it's Rodjun Cruz, so much so that he even launched his very own sports apparel brand, Cruz Fit, together with his family.
Rodjun started realizing the value of keeping one's body in shape way back in 2009, and he has since inspired his family members to join him in his fitness journey, including his wife, Dianne Medina, who welcomed their first child Joaquin Ilustre in September 2020.
In his appearance on the talk show Mars Pa More, the Kapuso hunk shared his five-minute low-intensity interval training that consists of high knees, butt kicks, push-ups, jumping air squats, and burpees. He also highlighted in the informative show Pinoy M.D. that once you start working out, it's important that you treat it as your lifestyle from now on in order to truly develop your muscles and improve your condition.
Piolo Pascual
No one embodies the line "aging like fine wine" more than Piolo Pascual. At 46 years old, Papa P still boasts a fresh and flourishing physique that can make young men inspired to follow in his footsteps.
This is because, through the years, he has gone out of his way to adopt a lifestyle of healthy diet and regular exercise. In an interview with radio station Monster RX93.1, he shared that aside from working out daily, making sure he has some good sleep is another factor in helping him maintain his great shape.
"I sleep a lot. That helps a lot to stay young, young looking. For physical health, I don't have days-off. I do my cardio. If I don't do my cardio, I do my workout. I have to do a workout once a day. It's not a chore. It's part of your life," Piolo said.
Filling his plate with good food also plays a vital role, "I watch what I eat. But I eat anything. I make sure that it's beneficial. I try to stay away from unhealthy food because I want to take care of my system. I treat myself with good food—fruits, lots of veggies, lots of water."
