'My only concern has always been my godson': Marc Nelson explains testimony against Maggie Wilson
Television personality and host Marc Nelson has spoken about his involvement in a legal dispute between his former co-host Maggie Wilson and her ex-husband, Victor Consunji.
In a series of Instagram stories, Nelson explained that he testified against Wilson out of concern for his godson, Connor, the 12-year-old son of Wilson and Consunji.
"I understand that there has been some speculations made about my involvement with a recent case involving Maggie Wilson and Victor Consunji regarding their son. To clear things up, I would like to clarify some points regarding this," the Burmese-Australian host said.
He continued, "My only concern regarding this matter is the welfare of their son, who happens to be my godson. [Connor] has already experienced many changes in his life and, unfortunately, has to navigate them publicly. At his age, he is beginning to build his identity and form new connections in school and within his community, which makes these public stories potentially harmful in the long run."
Nelson claimed that Connor opened up to him about feeling "uncomfortable" and "upset" due to his mother's social media activity.
"In a one-on-one conversation, he expressed to me how upset he has been about the social media posts his mother has made concerning him during the dispute between his parents. He specifically shared that these posts place him in an uncomfortable position, drawing unwanted attention and questions from both peers and adults — attention he neither likes nor wants," Nelson explained.
This scenario caused Nelson to testify against Wilson, emphasizing that his only intention was to "express reason to have those particular posts" about Connor "to stop" and preserve the child's well-being.
"For the record, whilst I know both parents, I have intentionally never gotten involved in their dispute and have no desire to. My only concern has always been my godson and his well-being," Nelson said.
Nelson urged the media to keep Connor's name and any reference to him out of his parent's issue.
"In line with that, to honor his wishes, I don't plan to say anymore on this matter, and I would respectfully request the media to also do the same and keep his name and any reference to him out of any future articles concerning his parents."
Nelson's statement came after Wilson name-dropped him as one of the people who testified against her.
Wilson detailed this on her IG stories, saying she recently received a decision from the court denying a petition for a Temporary and a Permanent Protection Order under the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act filed by Consunji against her.
According to the former beauty pageant titleholder, the petition was intended to stop her from being able to communicate or see her son, who has been staying with Consunji since their separation, on the basis that she is a "threat" to his mental and physical well-being.
"Despite several testimonies, including the likes of Marc Nelson, who testified on his knowledge on behalf of the petitioner Victor Consunji of how my son suffered emotional stress, anxiety, and annoyance due to me, were all denied by the family court of the Republic of the Philippines," Wilson said.
In May, Wilson revealed that Connor is currently under a protection order that prohibits her from communicating with him until he is of legal age, which is 18 years old.
"I am a mother, but I have been robbed of being able to be a mother. Nonetheless, I will always be his mommy and that is something no one, not even time can erase. You are always with me Connor. Forever in my heart, in my mind, and my prayers," she said during that time.
Wilson announced her separation from Consunji in 2021 after 11 years of marriage.
