Hyeri to star in new mystery K-drama dubbed 'Friendly Rivalry'

The 30-year-old idol-turned-actress is set to star in a new mystery thriller Korean show titled Friendly Rivalry, marking her return to the small screen for the first time after her MBC drama May I Help You? with Lee Jun-Young.

According to Korean entertainment website Soompi, the upcoming series will be based on a webtoon by writer Song Chae Yoon. It follows the story of high school students Yoo Jae Yi (Hyeri) and Woo Seul Gi, who develop close ties and then unveil their darker sides as they compete for the top position in their school.

Hyeri's character is a student who was brought up in a well-off family and is also blessed with beauty and brains. 

The new drama is set to premiere in 2025. Further details, including its exact release date and other cast members, have yet to be disclosed.

Hyeri is known for her roles in Korean dramas including Reply 1988, My Roommate is a Gumiho, Record of Youth, Agents of Mystery, and Moonshine, among others. She's also set to star in cheerleading film Victory, which is slated for an Aug. 14 release. 

Before entering the acting scene, she debuted as a singer with the K-pop girl group Girl's Day
