American businesswoman Martha Stewart revealed that she once had an affair. She also said that her now ex-husband Andy Stewart "never knew" about it during their nearly 30-year marriage.

Martha admitted to the act in the trailer of her new documentary Martha, which will soon premiere on Netflix on Oct. 30.

"Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s---t," she said. "Get out of that marriage."

A producer for the show then asked, "Didn’t you have an affair early on?"

"Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that," Martha confessed.

The 83-year-old television personality tied the knot with Andy in 1961 and welcomed their daughter, Alexis Stewart, four years later in 1965. Their marriage lasted for three decades until they ultimately got divorced in 1990.

Martha regarded their separation as a "terrible thing" for her.

"We were the first to divorce in my family, and that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life," she said.

The documentary, directed by R.J. Cutler, will narrate the culinary icon's story from her youth to how she became the United State’s first self-made, female billionaire. It will be based on hundreds of hours of intimate interviews with Martha and those from her inner circle, along with her private archives of diaries, letters, and never-seen-before footage.

It will also address the time when Martha was sent to federal prison for five months in 2004 after having been charged with conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to the sale of stock.

"I was a trophy for these idiots. I was dragged into solitary, no food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on high," she said in the trailer.

"The cookie cutter house and the cookie cutter life, that was not for me. I could’ve just been a miserable, has-been housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself," she stressed.

Martha first gained success through publishing cookbooks before entering a variety of business ventures that include publishing, broadcasting, merchandising, and e-commerce. She is also notable for her television programs Martha Stewart Living, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and The Martha Stewart Show, which ran from 2005 to 2012.
