'At least fresh lumpia': Anne Curtis reacts to her GMA Gala 'lumpia dress' that costs about P300K
The recently-concluded GMA Gala 2023 was indeed a night to remember as it saw It's Showtime! co-hosts Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, and Anne Curtis attending the event for the first time.
All of them went out of their way to dress and impress with their stylish outfits, but Anne was particularly singled out by social media users because of her look.
For the gala night, the actress showed her star power when she arrived wearing a strapless white column dress by Saint Laurent. She paired the gown with a luxurious set of jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Despite it coming from a fashion powerhouse as Saint Laurent, Anne's dress became the center of jokes and memes online.
Because of the outfit's look and texture, some netizens could not help but compare it to an uncooked lumpiang shanghai.

Love you!" one netizen wrote on Twitter, accompanying the post with a side by side picture of Anne's look and a few pieces of lumpiang shanghai.

Anne had eventually gotten wind of how her dress was the butt of everyone's jokes online, and like a true sport, she reacted in a light-hearted manner to all the memes.
In an Instagram story by Vice, she and Anne could be seen taking some mirror selfies together before Vice said, "Mas maganda ako sa'yo kapag malayo, noh?"
"Here, have some lumpia," Anne responded before handing over a white cloth.
In a recent episode of It's Showtime!, Anne's red carpet look was once again brought up by Vice, joking, "Wala siyang mahanap na outift. Ang nahanap niya lumpia."
Anne then quipped, "Yes pero at least fresh! Fresh lumpia."
"Mamahaling lumpia ka," Vhong added.
Memes aside, however, Anne's Saint Laurent dress is actually no laughing matter for the wallet as it can cost you about $5,490 (P299,500), according to London-based clothing retailer MatchesFashion. It is described as having been "inspired by the minimalist elegance of the 1990s."
As for Anne's jewelries, she seemed to have been wearing a Tiffany Schlumberger "Lynn" Necklace, which retails for more than P5.5 million. She was also wearing a Tiffany Schlumberger Sixteen Stone Ring that cost about $12,500 (P682,906).
