Pauline Amelinckx claims more crowns as first 'The Miss Philippines'
A month after being crowned Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up, Pauline Amelinckx is holding her head high with another crown on her head. This time, as the country's first "The Miss Philippines."
Amelinckx's new delegation was announced in an Instagram post by The Miss Philippines on Thursday, Aug. 10. It featured a photo of the Boholanian beauty's coronation held during the Supra Duo Homecoming Celebration on the same day.
"Pauline Amelinckx received her crown as the first-ever The Miss Philippines," the caption reads. "As The Miss Philippines, Pauline represents confidence, intelligence, and positive change in addition to being a beauty queen."
Dubbed "The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration," this new pageant is founded by Miss Universe Universe Philippines national director and former titleholder Shamcey Supsup along with the MUPH creative and events director Jonas Gaffud. They described The Miss Philippines as the "most ground-breaking national competition."
The Supra Duo Homecoming Celebration, meanwhile, was organized by Empire. Ph for Amelinckx and Mister Supranational 2023 Top 20 finalist Johaness Rissler.
Amelinckx revealed in a press con during the event that becoming the first Miss Philippines comes with pressure.
"In all honesty, medyo nahihirapan ako because The Miss Philippines, let's say, has just been born and it's gonna be different from the Miss Universe Philippines, for example," she said.
"So, I myself now also need to try and find someone that's gonna fit the other mold, a little bit better—if mold is really the right term—'cause we also try to make our own mold, but they will always be looking for something in particular."
Amelinckx is set to pass the crown and title of Miss Philippines to her successor and other pageant winners in October this year. The newly crowned beauty queens will represent the Philippines on the global stages of Miss Supranational and Miss Charm.
