Kim Soo Hyun's agency denies dating rumors with Kim Sae Ron
The Goldmedalist, Kim Soo Hyun's agency, has denied the dating rumors between the actor and Kim Sae Ron, saying that the photo must "have been taken in the past."
"We are informing you that Kim Soo Hyun’s dating rumors are not currently true. The photo that has been spread online appears to have been taken in the past, when [Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron] were under the same agency, and we are completely unable to understand the motivation behind Kim Sae Ron’s action [of posting the photo]," the statement read as per Korean entertainment website Soompi.
The agency also added that they would take strong legal action due to malicious slander and insulting posts that defame Soo Hyun’s character or honor.
"Due to the photo in question, unnecessary misunderstandings and groundless speculation about our actor are currently running rampant, and we will be taking strong legal action through our legal representative in response to malicious slander and insulting posts that defame our actor’s character or honor."
"We ask that you refrain from writing rumors or groundless speculation regarding this matter," the agency concluded.
The statement came after the Goldmedalist addressed the issue earlier today, "We just saw the news about actor Kim Soo Hyun this morning. We think we will be able to make a precise statement after checking the truth and figuring out the concrete details," it said.
The dating rumors sparked after Sae Ron posted a now-deleted Instagram story showing a photo of herself and Soo Hyun looking affectionate while posing together in a selfie. The former immediately deleted the image within a minute, causing speculations that the two actors were romantically involved.
Korean site OSEN, via Koreaboo, reported that an industry insider, who is mutual with both celebrities involved, said the two Korean stars are not dating, saying that the photo is "not current and not taken in real-time."
Soo Hyun, 36, currently appears in the popular Netflix Korean drama Queen of Stars with Kim Ji Won. The story follows the story of a married couple in a crisis.
Soo Hyun, who is also known as one of the highest-paid Korean actors, starred in various hit K-dramas including Its Okay Not to Be Okay (2020), My Love from the Star (2013), The Moon Embracing the Sun (2012), Dream High (2011), and The Producers (2015), among others.
Meanwhile, Sae Ron, 23, began her career at nine-years-old and became a notable child star by starring in the thriller-drama Korean film A Brand New Life. She also starred in the 2010 action-thriller film The Man From Nowhere.
The two actors were under the same label, Goldmedalist, until Sae Ron's 2022 Driving Under the Influence (DUI) case led to her departure.
In April 2022, she was cast in the SBS drama Trolley with Kim Hyun Joo and Park Hee Soon. However, she left the project following the mentioned case.
