Samantha Bernardo shares industry's 'hard truth': 'Sometimes, you deliver the work and still don't get fully paid'
Samantha Bernardo recently took to Facebook to share a frustrating truth about her industry.
The beauty queen and host revealed her disappointment after a job went unpaid, saying, "Sometimes, you deliver the work... and still don't get fully paid, even after weeks of waiting."
Bernardo admitted she had hoped that, as an established figure, she wouldn't face issues that had plagued her early career as a model.
"It reminded me of my early days as a model, when delayed or missing payments were sadly common. At one point, I even had over a million peso floating, which took 2-3 years to be paid," she revealed.
For her, it was not the loss of money but the broken trust and the feeling that her kindness had been "taken advantage of."
"I was led to believe this opportunity was in good faith, even tied to someone I deeply respected, who has already passed on. I trusted you with another booker's confirmation as well—and that was my mistake," she stated.
Bernardo urged others in her line of work to "be vigilant" and protect their interests.
"Respect the brief, respect the process, and respect each other's work. We all deserve to be treated with fairness," she said.
Ultimately, Bernardo decided to let the matter go. "I may not get back what was owed, but I know karma and time will always reveal the truth," she ended her post.
Bernardo is Miss Grand International 2020 first-runner up. She also joined Pinoy Big Brother Season 10 and placed third.
