Food influencer Michael Duarte shot dead by cops
Food influencer Michael Duarte, best known on social media as "FoodWithBearHands," was fatally shot by cops just a few days after celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife.
A spokesperson for the Medina County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ that Duarte was shot to death last weekend in Texas after authorities received a call about a man "with a knife acting erratically."
According to the report, the male subject—who was later identified as Duarte—allegedly confronted a responding deputy after being asked several times to get on the ground.
When he supposedly yelled, "I'm going to kill you!" and took steps closer to the cop, the latter discharged two rounds from their weapon.
Duarte received immediate medical assistance before he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
The social media personality made the rounds online earlier this week after his death was confirmed on a GoFundMe page set up by his loved ones to help them cover funeral expenses. In the description, it's indicated that he died in a "horrible accident."
He's survived by his partner Jessica and their 6-year-old child Oakley.
Duarte garnered more than 2 million followers across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube for his food content, which included cooking videos and recipes. He particularly enjoyed posting clips of himself grilling food.
