Filipina Olympian Margielyn Didal among skaters featured in Tony Hawk game
Filipina Olympian skateboarder Margielyn Didal is spreading her good vibes from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to Tony Hawk's newest game.
The 25-year-old Cebuana is part of the roster of pro skaters featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
In an announcement and behind-the-scenes video posted on the official social media pages of the game, Didal shared what she's looking forward to the most.
“I’m excited to be in the game and for other people to use me to have fun in the game,” she said in the trailer.
Didal and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk first met when she represented the Philippines at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
She posted a photo of their meetup on Facebook, jokingly writing, “This guy asked me to take a photo with him and I let him because he looks like Tony Hawk.”
Didal joins her idol Leticia Bufoni, together with Lizzie Armanto, Leo Baker, and Hawk himself as playable characters in the game.
The skillful 25-year-old skater rose to fame when she won a gold medal as part of the Philippine national team at the 2018 Asian Games and when she brought home two medals at the Southeast Asian Games.
Despite not winning a coveted medal for the Philippines at the 2020 Tokyo Games, Didal made history for the country by being part of skateboarding's inaugural appearance at the Olympics.
She also went viral for her electrifying smile and energy during the games—even Brazilians took notice of the stakeboarder.
The remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be available on July 11 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
