Nadia Montenegro explains why she distanced her daughter from her father Baron Geisler

Nadia Montenegro went into detail on the reason she decided to detach her now 17-year-old daughter Sophia from her father Baron Geisler.

In a guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the actress confirmed that Baron is indeed the father of her teenage daughter.

"Seventeen years ago, may isiniwalat ang isang tao tungkol sa buhay ko na I don’t think naman anybody has the right," Nadia said.

"Nung time na ‘yun, inaayos ko lahat. Hindi man lang kinonsider 17 years ago kung ano ang pinagdadaanan ko, ng mga anak ko, kung anong pwedeng mawala sa akin," she continued.

According to Nadia, Sophia has always known that Baron was her real father and that they have been in contact with each other through social media ever since. The actor even promised his child that they could meet in person but it had to be a secret from the public.

Despite this, the meeting never happened, and Nadia explained that she had to set some distance between Baron and Sophia because of the former's history of alcohol abuse.

"Tito Boy, unlimited chances for someone to change," she said when asked why the issue persisted this long. "Give me a reason na ipaharap kita sa kaniya nang sober ka. The drunk messages. The drunk text to my daughter. You think that would help her?"

Nadia then brought up the interview that Baron did with showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, where he admitted that he had another child. Despite omitting names, she knew he was referring to them.

The reveal then led to Sophia getting harrassed by other people.

"She was bullied. Someone all of a sudden just posted on the student council page a picture of Baron in jail. 'Kaninong tatay ito?'" Nadia shared.

She went on to explain that she's discussing this issue now as Sophia is turning 18 in August and she "does not need to come out of this world and answer questions for her mother."

"This is my mistake. Kung nagkamali man ako, I don’t want to even call it a mistake. Sophia is one of the most beautiful girls you can ever meet. Not just sa mukha niya, pati puso niya. This child has been through so much that she does not deserve," she emphasized.

On whether her late husband, Boy Asistio, knows about this, Montenegro said that they had closure on Sophia's real father before he died in 2017.
