Kylie Padilla opens up about being 'so afraid of life' after breakup with Aljur Abrenica
Kylie Padilla welcomed 2024 with a new revelation about her separation from her ex Aljur Abrenica.
Through her Instagram broadcast channel, the actress opened up to her fans about her realizations for the past year during her trip to Tokyo, Japan.
"Ever since my separation with my ex, I have been so afraid of life. Afraid of relaxing and letting go of my grip on control," she shared, adding that her fears stemmed from being a single parent to their kids Alas Joaquin and Axl Romeo.
Kylie then got real about what it's like being a single parent.
"I didn't know how much single parenthood scared me. Having two young kids rely on you while you are falling apart is so much pressure pala. I was bursting at the seams, but looking back I'm so proud of how far I've come," she wrote.
Now that it's 2024, the local star said she believes she can finally "afford to calm down."
Kylie and Aljur got married in 2018 and announced their separation in 2021.
In a previous interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the actress revealed the biggest lesson she learned from their marriage: "Medyo cliché eh, but I wish nagtira ako para sa sarili ko," she shared, "kasi I gave my all talaga."
"For a time, sa relationship namin, there was a point in my life na dadaanan ninyo talaga as people in relationships will go through, you know? Struggles, mayroon talaga. Kasama talaga 'yun."
"But because I made the promise of marriage, even if sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Okay, if I’m unhappy now and magiging ganito na yung set-up namin, ipaglalaban ko pa rin para sa mga anak ko,'" she said, crying.
Aljur is now with actress AJ Raval, who was initially accused of being a third party in their relationship. She strongly denied the claim. Kylie has also clarified that AJ had nothing to do with her and Aljur's split.
