K-pop star Dahyun is set to make her acting debut!

According to a report by Korean entertainment outlet Soompi, her agency, JYP Entertainment, confirmed that she is set to join the cast of the upcoming independent film Sprint.

“She has been cast for the project, and she is preparing for filming,” her agency said in a statement. The offering is reportedly expected to start filming this month.

Also confirmed in the lineup is Ha Seok Jin who will portray Kang Goo Young, an athlete who made history after breaking Korea’s 100-meter track record for the first time in 30 years. “However, contrary to high expectations, 10 years pass by, and he approaches the end of his heyday, no longer finding running to be enjoyable and regretting the path he walked in life,” according to Soompi. The media outlet added that the character is based on Korean Olympic athlete Kim Kuk Young.

Korean media outlet OSEN also reported that Crash Landing On You actor Lee Shin Young will also star in the film as a “passionate sprinter” named Seung Yeol.

Sprint tells the story of “one person who regrets the past due to continued failure as they look back on their footsteps and realize their value.” Lee Seung Hoon (The King and the Clown, Run Away) will serve as its director.

Dahyun debuted in the K-pop scene as part of the nine-member girl group TWICE in 2015. The group is known for their hit songs including Fancy, Moonlight Sunrise, What is Love?, and One Spark, among others.
