Andrea Brillantes confirms she's dating former basketball player Sam Fernandez
Andrea Brillantes has confirmed the dating rumors between her and former basketball player Sam Fernandez.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the 21-year-old Kapamilya star revealed that she is currently dating the Filipino-Jordanian, whom she has been friends with for years.
"He's a private person. Non-showbiz siya. He's also not a basketball player. He used to play," she said.
The actress noted that they're not yet in a relationship.
"Sinabi ko naman na open ako sa pag-de-date kasi two years na rin naman akong walang boyfriend. Naloloka ako kasi ang daming nagsasabi na bakit may boyfriend na raw ako agad. I’m just dating,” she told the media outlet.
This came after the two were spotted in several locations together, including Valentine's, where Sam was seen holding a bouquet of pink roses for the local star.
Ideal boyfriend
In 2023, Andrea shared in the vlog of Kapamilya Host Luis Manzano that she prefers to have a loyal partner rather than a faithful one, as finding a faithful boyfriend can be difficult these days.
"Dati faithful, ngayon ang hirap na. So loyal na pwede na loyal, maging loyal ka na lang," she told Luis at the time while sharing her perspective on the difference between being loyal and faithful.
"Sa mga hindi nakakaalam, iba ang loyal sa faithful. Ang loyal kapag may dumaan na chicks, titingin 'yan pero doon pa rin siya sa mahal niya. Ang faithful kahit may chicks 'yan 'hindi titingin lang ako sa asawa ko, sa love of my life' ganun ang faithful."
She then clarified that she still wants to have that "faithful" partner despite her personal notion that it is too hard to find one today.
"Siyempre kung may faithful 'Lord, please' yun talaga."
The Senior High star enumerates some of the attributes she looks for in a partner. She emphasized that, above all, she wants a "one-woman man."
"Loyal, maalaga, gentleman, marespeto, totoong lalaki,'Yun na lang ang hinihingi ko kasi a real man, I believe, they know how to settle, alam nila kung paano makuntento sa isa at isa lang talaga. Gusto ko ng one-woman-man," she said.
"Kasi ang dami kong list noon na dapat 'di ka cheater, dapat 'di ka liar. Ang totoong lalaki, for me, hindi 'yan nagsisinungaling talaga. Alam niya kung paano aminin ang katotohanan ng buong-buo, hindi 'yung ang dami pang pasikot-sikot. Oo aamin, pero hindi lahat," Andrea added.
She continued, "Kumbaga I don't want a boy, I want a man. That's what I need, I need a man. Sobrang hectic na ng buhay ko kailangan ko ng tunay na lalaki. At hindi ko kailangan ng insecure, kailangan ko ng tunay na buong-buong lalaki," she added while ringing true to Luis on having a "peace of mind"
Andrea was previously in a relationship with basketball star Ricci Rivero. The latter is now with beauty queen-turned-politician Leren Mae Bautista.
