Dwayne Johnson surprises struggling UFC fighter with a new house: 'No more couch sleeping'

Dwayne Johnson showed the world just how generous and helpful he can be when he gifted an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter a new house after learning that he was struggling to buy one for his family.

On his Instagram account, Johnson posted a video capturing the reaction of 32-year-old UFC welterweight fighter Themba Gorimbo when he found out that he's been given a new home in Miami.

"Thank you so much," Gorimbo said as he rushed to the retired professional wrestler to give him a tight hug for the grand gesture.

Gorimbo, who is still an up-and-coming fighter, had been facing financial troubles while trying to save up money to purchase a house for his family from his native country Zimbabwe.

He previously shared that he only had $7 (P391) in his bank account during the time that he competed in the UFC Vegas 73 back in May this year, leading him to just sleep on the couch at the gym he was staying in.

But as the Rock put it, there will be "no more couch sleeping" for Gorimbo after his selfless gift to him.

The actor surprised the UFC fighter by taking him to a house and subtly telling him to check out a picture frame at a desk, which actually contained a photo of Gorimbo posing with his wife and two kids.

"Oh, it's my family!" he said.

"So, Themba, I don't know anybody who lives here. I wanted to come here, I wanted to bring you here, I wanted to look you in the eye and I wanted to tell you, welcome home," Johnson revealed as he gave Gorimbo the key to the house.

Gorimbo, in turn, could not help but fall to his knees and get emotional as he expressed his gratitude towards Johnson.

"This place is yours. You don’t have to think about anything. The only thing you think about is your family, getting them over here, getting them with you, your training, and becoming champion," the actor said.

In response, Gorimbo shook his hand as he promised, "I will become a champion. Trust me, you can shake my hand on it. I will become a champion. Thank you, thank you so much."

The kind act comes as Johnson had been touched by the UFC fighter's story, which was actually not so different from what he experienced in the past.

During the earlier days of his professional wrestling career, Johnson only had $7 to his name. He spent his time wrestling in flea markets for $40 (P2,236) a night before he eventually became one of the biggest names in both the wrestling and acting industries.

Many of his fans and followers showered him with praise for his gift to Gorimbo.

"You have such a big heart mate. And you inspire us who follow you to grow our own hearts, you make this world more kind and loving through your actions," one user commented.

Another one wrote: "This made me tear up. Thanks for being so kind. The world needs more people like you."
