Binibining Pilipinas queens have been named!

Myrna Esguerra of Abra and Jasmin Bungay of Pampanga were crowned this year’s Bb. Pilipinas International and Bb. Pilipinas Globe, respectively, during the pageant’s coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

They were bestowed the crown by their successors, Bb. Pilipinas International 2023 Angelica Lopez and Bb. Pilipinas Globe Anna Valencia Lakrini.

During the question and answer portion, Myrna received actress and Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran’s question, asking what message she would tell the Filipino women of 1964 about the women of 2024.

The beauty queen focused her answer on how today’s Filipinas have achieved the goal of empowerment.

“I will tell them to the women of the past that we have achieved our goal, which is to empower women, standing here at the age of 17, I started to finance for my own studies and help my family financially. I was able to do this by all those women who paved the way to empower us to always reach for our goals, no matter what it is. Because in life, we can all achieve our dreams as long as we believe that we can and thanks to them all. Thank you,” she said.

The 22-year-old delegate is also a student, event coordinator, and event host. Her advocacy focuses on environmental preservation.

Meanwhile, Jasmin received Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz’s question, asking what she would talk about when given a chance to speak to the public for 30 minutes– to which the beauty queen answered with the passing of the SOGIE bill.

“I would be given 30 minutes to talk to the public, I would like to talk about the passing of the SOGIE bill, because in this in celebration such as pageant, this community has contributed so much. And in this regard, we can give back to them by supporting this cause because as an individual, it is our responsibility that we ensure that everyone is treated equally, despite their SOGIE. Thank you,” she answered.

The Kapampangan beauty queen is no stranger to the pageant scene, as she previously gained the title of Miss Pampanga (Mutya Ning Kapampangan) in 2016. Her advocacy focuses on OFW empowerment.

Myrna will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming Miss International 2024 pageant happening on November 12 in Tokyo, Japan. Meanwhile, Jasmin will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming Miss Globe 2024 pageant, which has yet to announce the date and venue of its coronation night.

Apart from them, Christal Dela Cruz of Zambales and returning contestant Trisha Martinez of Pila, Laguna were named the pageant’s first and second runners-up, respectively.

The winners of this year’s pageant will be bestowed the organization’s newest crowns, as well as a prize of P1 million each. The runners-up, meanwhile, will be given P400,000 each.
