Bea Alonzo is 'honored' to be part of a musical concert: 'It's both exciting and nerve-racking'

Bea Alonzo couldn't help but share her excitement for her first theater concert.

Bea, who will star in an upcoming theater act 'Ang Larawan: The Concert' with Jericho Rosales, expressed her delight on social media.

“Piano session with Mr.Cayabyab for ANG LARAWAN CONCERT. First time performing in a musical theater, and it’s both exciting and nerve-racking!!” she wrote on her Instagram post on Friday, April 21, sharing a photo with the rest of the cast.

“So honored to be picked to play as Elsa Montes.”

Also included in the star-studded cast are Karylle, Markki Stroem, Aicelle Santos, Kakai Bautista, and Kakki Teodora. Veteran actors Mitch Valdez, Bituin Escalante. and Nonie Buencamino will also join the cast. 

'Ang Larawan: The Concert' will be produced by Girlie Rodis and Aaron Velasco, with Ryan Cayabyab as the musical director. 

The upcoming concert will be based on the 1997 stage musical of the same name.

Ang Larawan was later adapted into a musical film in 2017, starring Joanna Ampil, Rachel Alejandro, and Paulo Avelino. It was one of the movies that won big at the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), bagging the Best Picture, Best Musical Score, Best Production Design, the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award, and Ampil’s Best Actress award.  

It is set to be staged on May 6, 7 p.m. at The Metropolitan Theater serving as the culminating activity for the year-long celebration of The Order of National Artists of the Philippines.
