'It's been really hard': Kyla reveals suffering fifth miscarriage
Kyla revealed that she suffered another miscarriage before Christmas last year.
The singer, together with her husband, basketball coach Rich Alvarez, made an appearance on ABS-CBN's Magandang Buhay on Wednesday, Feb. 21. She opened up about her fifth pregnancy loss after being asked about the biggest challenge she has faced in life.
"For us, 'yung biggest challenge would be giving Toby a sibling, We've been struggling for years and years and years. It's been really hard, especially very recent lang 'yung sa amin eh. Just before Christmas actually I suffered another one [miscarriage]," she revealed.
Kyla emphasized that despite what happened, she remains incredibly grateful for her son and her partner.
"I am also very grateful and thankful kasi at least nabigyan kami ng isa and kung madadagdagan pa, bonus na lang 'yun," she said. "Kaya siguro siya rin ang ibinigay sa akin ni Lord, si Rich, kasi I don't think anyone would love me like the way he loves me or ever will love me."
"Parang feeling ko, mahirap kasi akong mahalin. Siya lang talaga yung magmamahal sa akin nang ganito, so I am just really thankful," she added.
In her guesting, Kyla called Toby an "amazing kid" as she apologized to him for not being able to give him a sibling.
"I just feel so lucky and blessed that we have you, anak. You are an amazing kid," Kyla said. "Whether or not magkakaroon ka ng sibling or ano—sorry that we couldn't give it to you. But I love you so much and now, you have all our attention."
This is the fifth time Kyla suffered a miscarriage following two in 2018, another one in July 2021, and her fourth in 2022.
Kyla and Rich tied the knot in a civil ceremony in April 2011 and a church wedding in November 2011 after dating for seven years.
They welcomed Toby in May 2013.
