Squid Game actor Oh Youngsoo has been indicted on charges of sexual misconduct, judicial officials said on Nov. 25.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office indicted Oh without detention over accusations that he inappropriately touched a woman's body in 2017.

The victim filed a complaint against the actor in December 2021 but the police closed the case in April without pressing charges. The prosecution restarted the investigation after the victim appealed.

The Golden Globe-winning actor denied the allegations, saying he "just held her hand to guide the way around the lake."

"I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn't make a fuss about it but it doesn't mean that I admit the charges," Oh said.

The prosecution said it obtained evidence of harassment and will be taking the case to trial.

Oh rose to fame after starring in Netflix's Squid Game as Player 001 or Oh Ilnam. With the role, he won a Best Supporting Actor award at the 79th Golden Globes. He was the first Korean actor to receive the prestigious distinction for the role.
