Entertainment journalist Jobert Sucaldito's cause of death revealed
The son of Jobert Sucaldito has disclosed the veteran showbiz journalist's cause of death.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Aug. 3, Sucaldito's son Carlo Brian released a statement sharing that his father died from cardiac arrest.
"Sadly Nanay Jobert passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest (heart failure), as explained by the doctors at the Philippine Heart Center," he wrote. "During the incident, he suddenly collapsed and fell, causing him to hit his head, which resulted in the bruise on his forehead and the cut on his lips."
According to Carlo, Sucaldito was no longer feeling well weeks prior to his death. Doctors at Providence Hospital wanted to admit the journalist to the ICU, but Sucaldito refused.
"If you all know Nanay, alam niyo kung gaano siya katapang at katigas ang ulo in the best way possible," Carlo wrote. "He wanted to keep fighting and continue enjoying life, and he kept saying, 'Kaya ko!' at 'Okay ako!'"
Fulfilling his wishes, Sucaldito was brought home to spend his last two weeks with family, which Carlo described as "some of the most unforgettable moments of my life."
"We went on road trips, visited places he enjoyed, shared meals, laughed together, and simply spent quality father-and-son time," he wrote.
"Looking back, we noticed that his body was slowly getting weaker, but he never complained and never wanted anyone to worry. He always made us believe that he was okay, even when he probably wasn't," he added.
Sucaldito passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2, as shared on the Facebook page of his program OOTD Jobert and Chaps Channel.
As stated in a post on the FB page, the incident that led to his death took place in his Quezon City home between 9:45 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 2. He was rushed to the Philippine Heart Center, where he was pronounced dead by around 10:30 a.m.
Per Carlo, his father's remains will be at Loyola Memorial Chapels & Crematorium – Commonwealth until Aug. 6. Their family is also accepting donations via GCash at 0918 908 0322.
Sucaldito became known for his decades-long career in entertainment journalism, having worked as a co-host for the entertainment program Showbuzz under DZMM. He also served as a talent manager and had a hand in several film productions, including Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill and Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story.
